Welcome to givemeapenny.net.  I love pennies.  I pick them up every time I see one.  To give me a penny click here.

So I started picking up pennies at a young age.  I can't remember exactly when, but I do remember when I was like 6 I found a dime and a nickle in the coin return of a pay phone.  I was amazed.  There it was, money, however small, just sitting there for me.  Well, after that it was like a light went on in my head.  I should pick up change when I find it.

So why the emphasis on pennies you say?  Well,  since I liked the idea of picking up money, I started looking as I walked around, to my astonishment, there were pennies.  They were everywhere.  While everyone else ignored them I ran to them and gleefully put them in my pocket.  But you see, I soon ran out of pennies in plain sight.  So I wondered where I could find more.  Then one day when I was in the super market, a Super 1 foods (do they exist anymore?), I saw a penny half way under a shelf.  I knelt down and picked it up and then curiously put my head to the ground and looked under the shelf.  Then I beheld the lost treasure of this world.  There were so many pennies under there!  They had been hidden away like a lepurchan's buried treasure.  I couldn't believe my eyes.  I quickly found a straw and retrieved them and started looking under many more shelves, relive the same jubilous experiance.  Pennies, Pennies and more Pennies!

This continued for years but as I grew older it all but faded away.  Then in high school, I became bored during lunch and so I began to wander around to see what I could see. Granted, it was not like there was a lot to see in the commons area of my high school but I always seemed to find at least one penny.  After a few weeks of finding a penny every day, I began to look exclusively for them.  Well people thought it was interesting when they saw me wandering around picking up pennies. So, they decided to see what would happen if they placed pennies.  Of course I picked them up.  Then they wanted to see what happened if they threw the pennies.  I ran to them and picked them up.  After that many people in the school would throw pennies at me just to watch me pick them up.  It was the best 5 weeks of high school that I had.  I had so many pennies.  Of course the school administrators said that it was causing a disturbance and after they failed misserably to get me to stop picking up the pennies (what rule was I breaking?), they cracked down hard on those throwing them so I had to content myself with simply picking up ones that were left by people.

Well later in life, just a few years ago, my freshman year in college, I had a job teaching missionaries the language Malagasy at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, UT.  The missionaries saw me picking up pennies and they thought that was great.  They would leave pennies all over the room so when I came into the class to prepare I would find pennies everywhere.  Now, I would not chase pennies when I was teaching them, and I even told them that it was inappropriate to do anything with pennies when we were learning Malagasy, however, they still called me the Penny Man and Penny Meister and everyday would strew pennies around the hall and classroom so when I came in in the morning to prepare my lessons I would find a class empty of missionaries but full of pennies.  When I quit my job there they had collected several hundred which they left for me and then took a picture of it all.

So there is my history with pennies thus far. I continue to pick them up when ever I see them.  I love them and eternally search for that which brings me such joy, a penny.  So why the site?  Everyone has an extra penny or two in their paypal account, and if you wouldn't mind parting with it, I would really love to have it.  Just click here.

Penny Facts

  I weigh approximately 28700 pennies.

If I picked up 1 penny every day for 10 years, I would have at least $36.52 and at most $36.53

The eiffle tower is approximately 17000 pennies tall if the pennies were somehow stacked end to end, but if they were stacked on top of eachother it is 209000 pennies tall.

If you laid the pennies flat on the ground and touching eachother but not overlaping, it would take 14,746,000 pennies to cover a football field.
